Karsan is one of the oldest, most respected and prolific automotive production and marketing companies in Turkey’s booming automotive industry.

Founded in 1966, Karsan is renowned internationally for its expertise in automotive product design and engineering. With more than 40 years of experience as an international multi-branded commercial vehicle producer, Karsan provides a wide range of critical services to the world’s leading brands, including Hyundai Motor Company, Peugeot, Citroen and Renault Trucks in its modern and flexible production plants.

Karsan’s new state of the art factory was designed to manufacture all types of vehicles and is currently equipped to produce 50,000 vehicles per year in its 861,113 square feet factory. In addition, Karsan has the ability to expand the plant to accommodate production of up to 120,000 vehicles per year.

Its United States arm, Karsan USA, also has plans to build a unique and exclusive factory service center (in Long Island City, Queens), which will provide New York City taxi owners the opportunity to have their vehicles serviced 24 hours a day, seven days a week by factory trained mechanics, with factory supplied tools and with a large inventory of factory approved spare parts. No other auto manufacturer will have such a facility located right in New York City. This facility will employ at least 100 local residents.

Since joining the European Customs Union 15 years ago, Turkey has emerged to become one of the strongest automotive production bases in the EU. Thanks to forward-thinking companies such as Karsan, Turkey now produces more than one million vehicles annually and is on pace to double that number in the next four to five years. It has already become one of the largest bus and light commercial vehicle producers in the EU.

In recognition of new global realities, the migration of populations to urban areas and the need to combat climate change, Karsan recently redefined its mission and reason for existence, and encapsulated it in a new vision: LIMITLESS SOLUTIONS TO (URBAN) TRANSPORTATION. That commitment is most evident in Karsan’s New York City Taxi of Tomorrow proposal. Unlike its competitors, Karsan did not see fit to respond by simply modifying an existing light commercial vehicle. Rather, Karsan responded with plans for a custom-built vehicle that would meet the highest standards and incorporate the latest advances in engineering, safety, efficiency, sustainability and accessibility.
